The Loux Family inspires me.
Mama Loux is an adoption educator and consultant. They have 7 children, 4 adopted. Their youngest, Mattias, is an incredibly handsome hand-picked baby boy who just happens to have Down Syndrome. He is 8 months old and has never, to my knowledge, left the hospital. He has a tracheostomy, is on a vent, has a Gtube, and has had one of two heart surgeries.
This is a family who *LIVES* adoption!
Daddy Loux just quit his job to help care for their other 6 children while Mattias is in critical care in the hospital awaiting his next heart surgery.
He just fell and had to have his knee cap surgically put back into place.
My son has DiGeorge Syndrome (22q deletion) as well as 14q deletion (rare). It is somewhat similar to Down Syndrome in that there are generally heart anomolies, developmental delays, and ongoing health crises. There is also a lot of joy, miracles, and amazing love in having a child with a "syndrome" like Down's or DiGeorge that you just cannot put into words.
I know first hand it takes a lot of bravery and *FAITH* to adopt a child with special needs, especially one with critical medical needs that amount to ongoing medical fragility. It is not for the faint of heart: spiritually, emotionally, physically, or financially. Yet they CHOSE him. And he is SOOOOOOO cute!
It also takes bravery and humility to ask for help. PLEASE donate via their paypal. I am asking you as a sister in Christ, as a mom who has had to take gift cards, ask for donations, and let people feed my family during my sons' surgeries.
